I've revamped all of the Helix presets for both Venns & WTLNDS.
The original collection of presets was made for the Helix to be used with the line output level set to instrument level. At the time, my reasoning was that most of the scenarios I was using it in, I found myself in instrument level situations. And thought (based on some reading) that the best signal-to-noise and digital audio conversion performance was achieved with the output volume set to full. The only problem was that the presets often seemed a bit quiet in my regular DAW workflow. Not in the end result, just in the monitoring while playing. I’d always have to juice the interface mains or headphones.
Over this past year, I’ve rethought all of that, reworked everything in a balanced audio workflow, and have recently since rethought everything once again with the advent of Helix Firmware 3.8 and my recent adventures in cab IR production.
So, I have a whole collection of presets that never really went anywhere. Not only that, I also attempted to port the collections over to the POD GO. Which I did with some success. The only downside to the POD GO collections is that the bass patches kind of suck. There are limits in the POD GO that don’t satisfy the patch architecture that I typically prefer and rely on to get the results that I enjoy.
There are no Foreigns presets. Because I’m still in the middle of production with the next Foreigns EP, there are no official tones yet. As far as older releases go, I will get around to making updated presets for “Metropolitan” and “Concentric/Pneumatic”, but I want to go back to what I originally did on the POD HD in order to engineer the most faithful presets for the Helix ecosystem. I may even release the original POD tones as well… We’ll see.
Finally, the name… I am fixin to change the name of all of the digital assets from “BunnSonics” to something else. I can’t report on exactly what that will be yet, but expect a change there.
