Mending broken threads to weave the kings new robe!
As I see it, “the thread” is a focused momentum or flow of ideas in the construction and/or arrangement of an idea made into form driven by a central theme or concept specific to an individual.
The past few years have been pretty rocky for me. There has been a steady stream of disruptions with a lot of picking-up and putting-down of “the thread”. Almost always breaking the thread, and never regaining the same vibe or momentum.
If there has been a thread, it’s been one of broken threads, finding a new thread every time I pick things up again.
Recently I tied up a long series of broken threads completing all of the writing and arranging for the next Foreigns EP, which is a huge relief. I immediately shifted gears to writing for the next WTLNDS ep.
There is something weird about WTLNDS. “The thread” is always easy to pick back up. It’s very free flowing and enjoyable to throw myself into.
It took just 10 days to complete a final arrangement for “Anomalous”. And that’s from just a few raw ideas that I put down over a year ago. To compare, I have been cramming to complete the Foreigns demo track “Spiritual” for over 2 years… I haven’t touched the WTLNDS stuff for over a year and BOOM! 10 days to finish a final arrangement.
This demo track is already pretty pounding. I can’t wait to put this final EP together.
